Our beloved photographer, friend and brother – Tom Swain – died in an accident early on Saturday morning. Company will never be the same again; he gave us so much passion, energy and creativity. We will miss him dearly, and his images will live on forever.

Sound and Vision
Russell Bestley is the MA Graphic Design, course director at LCC. He asked us to join him again for this year’s Music and Graphic Design Elective. The brief was to explore how designs can work for multiple formats; tangible and digital. We’re looking forward to the marking next month.

How do you connect a worldwide community of Scientists and partners, acting as one in the protection of tropical forests? You develop a web portal which gives the community a platform for information gathering and sharing. We’ve spent 4 months working closely with GCP on their new website.

Later this month we’re running a 5 week workshop at LCC called Brand You. Your personality determines how you react and how others react to you. It is the part of you that makes you a unique individual and sets you apart from others. The aim of the workshop will be to ask students to create a visual representation of yourself.

LCC: Word and Image
Alex has been helping Russell Bestley on the MA Design course at London College of Communication. The ‘Word and Image’ elective asked to create narratives based on the connections between selected words and images. Working in groups, the students looked at how different approaches might generate or emphasise different readings.

Company has been asked to refresh the identity and website design for Translate Media, an award-winning global translations agency. The new online portal with connect companies to more than 2,000 certified translators – covering over 55 languages, 24hrs a day, 7 days a week.

A new series of design events based in Istanbul, invited Company to share their thoughts and ideas in creating brand identity projects. Scottish photoshoot
This week Tom Swain and Alex will be in Scotland to photograph the ‘Mustard Seed’ and ‘Kitchen’ restaurants in preparation for their new brand identity being developed in the London studio later this month.

LCC lecturing
Chrys and Alex have were invited to run a six week elective at the London College of Communication on the FdA Design course. They set the project ‘Packaging Your Emotions’, which asks teams to design a piece of packaging that communicates the values of emotions such as love, surprise, anger and joy.

Xbox 360: Project Natal launch
Xbox has asked Company to design the launch material for their newest technological advancement, which will take the gaming revolution to the next level: ‘Project Natal’. The event will introduce the public to the exciting reality of ‘Project Natal’; a revolutionary new way to play, making the viewer the controller. We delivered a stylish, mysterious invitation with a gentle nod towards ‘alternative reality’.

Re-inventing the global pitch
It’s just been announced that MPG won the Hyundai and Kia global pitch, for which Company created all the pitch communication material – the hand cut, ‘grass powered’ car engines paid off!
The account is worth circa £150m and promises to grow dramatically in the coming future, so everyone involved is very excited!

Rebrand national airline
Company has taken part in an international competition to re-brand the Greek national airline. The brief was to update Olympic Airline’s identity while retaining its trademark multi-coloured ring symbol. We collaborated with font experts Dalton Maag to produce a bespoke font that maintains the essence of this existing logotype.

Design Walk: Cog
This year for the Design Walk, we have collaborated with G studio in a project titled Cog (Company + G). We used the tooth of a gear as a symbol of collaboration and designed a ‘cog’ tool with which the public were invited to create their own Spirograph posters – thus extending the collaboration further into the public realm through an interactive workshop.

Abbey Road Studios
Abbey Road Studios have asked Company to bring a fresh feel to the studios’ identity applications, and design a new set of marketing publications for the four sides of the business: Recording & Mixing, Interactive, Mastering and Asset Management & Supply. This week we start the project with a photo shoot, documenting the legendary studio complex.
